  Prayat Punong-ong, Thailand

Prayat Punong-ong has been working for and among people with disabilities in Thailand and all its neighboring countries since 1978. He founded the Christian Foundation for the Blind in Thailand and was its President for a number of years. He has also served people with disabilities in President, Vice-President, Chairperson, and other leadership positions of various other national and international agencies. He maintains a rigorous schedule as lecturer and consultant to National and Provincial Governments and NGO's on education, health, and civil rights policies for the blind and all people with disabilities in Thailand, as well as the poor rural population. He was appointed to several committees of the Ministries of Education, Health, Agriculture, etc. At the international level, he is a researcher for various United Nations bodies, including UNESCO and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
